Mauritania: This is what Sheikh Tahiri said at the Huwaitat International Festival.
Sheikh Moulay Abdullah Tahiri Al-Idrisi, the General Caliph of the Tahiri Schools in Algeria and their branches and neighboring extensions, praised the fifth edition of the Huwaitat International Festival for Culture and Development, considering it a valuable opportunity to meet and revive the bonds of kinship in blood and religion, ties that are “required by Sharia and encouraged by Islam,” according to His Eminence.
In a statement made during the proceedings of the festival, held under the high patronage of His Excellency the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the scholar of Algeria and the region said that such events allow participants to recall illustrious moments in the nation’s history, particularly the Muslim battles against French colonialism in various Islamic countries. He cited examples from the Prophet’s biography, which calls for resisting injustice and strengthening solidarity among Muslim peoples.
In the same context, Al-Tahiri praised the journey of his father, the mujahid scholar Sheikh Moulay Ahmed Al-Tahiri, whose heroic stances are immortalized in history. He stood with steadfastness and pride in the face of the brutal colonialist, defending the land, faith, and dignity in this region and other Muslim countries. He emphasized that his current efforts to spread knowledge, strengthen ties between peoples, and reinforce the values of authenticity and giving are a natural extension of that blessed jihadist journey, following in the footsteps of our fathers and grandfathers, who made knowledge a weapon and steadfastness an uncompromising principle.
Amid these authentic fraternal ceremonies, the head of the Algerian delegation expressed his overwhelming joy and deep gratitude for the warm welcome and warmth he and his accompanying delegation received in the town of Al-Huwaitat. This highlights Algeria’s role and its deep spiritual and intellectual roots, deeply rooted in Africa and history.
For his part, Professor Mohamed Ould Domane, the festival’s president, expressed his great happiness with this fraternal participation, emphasizing that the cultural and historical relations between the Mauritanian and Algerian peoples represent a model of cohesion and integration within a shared environment united by religion, blood, and a shared history.
He added that the presence of our Algerian brothers in the Huwaitat reflects the depth of ties that transcend borders and strengthens bridges of communication between generations.
The three-day festival witnessed a wide attendance of scientific, cultural, and artistic figures, as well as those interested in heritage and local development, amidst a festive atmosphere that reflected the region’s richness and cultural diversity.
